Pomona Distilling Co

Pomona Distilling Co has quietly become a Noosa hinterland institution, running its own smokehouse kitchen and gin program from Reserve Street in the middle of town. The dog policy is stated on the venue's own site: well behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor dog friendly seating, and when you book a table you are asked to note that you are bringing a dog so staff can seat you in the right section. There are even branded dog toys on hand, which tells you how deliberate the welcome is.

The working rule is booking plus outdoor section: note the dog when you reserve, arrive leashed, and staff will place you where water bowls and space make sense. The beer garden style seating handles a settled dog easily, and weekend sessions from 11am (Wednesdays to Fridays from midday) are built for long tables rather than quick turns. Sundays wind up at 5pm, which makes lunch the move on the last day of the week.

Order around the distillery. A gin tasting paddle is the natural opener and the gin blending class is the deep end for enthusiasts, while the smokehouse turns out brisket and a ploughman's board that pairs with anything from the stills. Between the food, the stills and the dog toys, the venue manages to be several outings at once.

Pomona itself is compact and walkable. Morning coffee happens at THE SCULLERY CAFE or the espresso stop at Trail 518, lunch without the tasting flight works at Pomona Village Kitchen, and if you are staying overnight the Historic Pomona Hotel is around the corner.
