E&J soft serve ice cream van

E&J is a takeaway soft-serve van parked at Point Peron Beach, right by the coastal carpark on Point Peron Road at the southern end of Rockingham. There is no seating to speak of: people grab their order and drift to the grass, the picnic benches, the sand or the car. As a dog stop it is exactly what an ice cream van should be, outdoors, casual and right at the end of a beach walk.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the open-air area around the van, kept on a leash. That leash rule is not just about the van: the Point Peron headland sits inside Rockingham Lakes Regional Park, where dogs are permitted on the paths and coastal tracks on-lead at all times to protect the dunes and wildlife. There are no dog treats or water bowls listed, so pack your own water, particularly on warm days. The carpark gets busy with boats, swimmers and families, so keep the dog close until you are somewhere clearly quieter.

Getting there and parking

There is a free carpark at the beach entrance, listed as wheelchair accessible, with the van set up alongside. The menu covers vanilla soft-serve in cones and cups, gluten-free options, milkshakes, bubble tea and soft drinks. Hours shift with weather and season, and the van typically closes Fridays, so check its socials before making a special trip.

While you're out there

Treat the van as the finish rather than the destination: a lap of the headland first, then cones.
