Mundijong Tavern

Mundijong Tavern is a country pub on Paterson Street that does the simple things right for dog owners: a big outdoor dining area where dogs are genuinely welcome, misting for hot Peel-region afternoons, and hearty pub food to sit down to. Open daily from 11am to 9pm, it is the social hub of a small semi-rural community rather than a roadside stop.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and beer garden, which is where the tables worth having are anyway. Standard indoor food rules apply, so dogs stay outside. Leads on and under control at all times, and the courtyard has a playground in it, which means well-socialised dogs settle in easily but reactive ones have traffic to navigate. Water bowls are usually available, though a travel bowl of your own removes the guesswork on busy days. The misting system makes summer lunches workable in a way most beer gardens are not.

The vibe

Classic country tavern: steak sandwiches, schnitzels, burgers and a Sunday roast following, with weekly specials early in the week, meat raffles, karaoke and Chase the Ace through the week. Live music sessions, particularly Sunday afternoons, are the signature event and pull a crowd. There is a drive-thru bottle shop on site and happy hour pint deals. Weekends are family-heavy; weekdays are the quieter window if your dog prefers calm.

Getting there and parking

The tavern sits at 32 Paterson Street in Mundijong, with a free on-site car park plus street parking. Accessible parking and entrances are available. It is an easy detour off the South Western Highway corridor if you are heading toward Jarrahdale or Serpentine.

Make a day of it

The Serpentine-Jarrahdale area is strong dog walking country. The Mundlimup Timber Trail is a good bush walk before lunch, and Darling Ranges Exclusive Dog Park or Byford Bark Park cover off-leash time. If you are staying over, Tasman Holiday Parks Serpentine Falls is a short drive south.
