Byford Bark Park Fenced Dog Park

Byford Bark Park is the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale's purpose built fenced dog park on Larsen Road, with two separate secure enclosures for large and small dogs. It is an open grassy space with agility gear and water stations, and the sort of place where weekend mornings turn into a proper dog social scene.

The dog setup

The split into large dog and small dog zones is the main draw, and each entry has a double gated introduction area so dogs can size each other up before joining the run. There is agility equipment and obstacles for training, sandpit areas for the diggers, seating for handlers, water stations, and accessible parking bays with connecting paths. Shade is patchy in parts, so time your summer visits for the cooler ends of the day.

The rules here

Dogs stay on lead until you are inside the enclosure, then off lead under effective control. On leaving, the lead goes straight back on. Owners are expected to stay inside the fenced area with their dogs, clean up using the bins provided, and remove any dog showing aggression or antisocial behaviour immediately. It is a shire facility, so the rangers do take the guidelines seriously.

The vibe

Weekday mid mornings and early afternoons are the quiet window, while late afternoons and weekend mornings get busy, which suits confident social dogs but can overwhelm the anxious ones. If your small dog is over the rough play, head for the small dog run and its calmer crowd.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at the corner of Larsen Road and Sansimeon Boulevard, easily reached off Thomas Road, with free parking including accessible bays right beside it. Local buses serve Byford's residential streets, but a car is by far the most direct way in.

Grab a coffee at COFFIX Byford on the way through town, and if your dog still has fuel in the tank the Byford Hills Walk Trail adds a leashed bushwalk with views over the coastal plain.
