The Hill Bar & Kitchen

The Hill Bar & Kitchen is a relaxed bar and restaurant at 98 Fern Street in Gerringong, with sweeping views over the farmlands down to Werri Beach from its outdoor deck. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, leashed and under control, which makes it one of the better dinner stops on the NSW south coast with a dog in tow.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the veranda and deck, not inside the dining room, and staff are used to accommodating them out there. The outdoor tables with the view are also the most sought-after, so book ahead and specifically request a dog-friendly outdoor table when you do, rather than waiting on the footpath.

Bring a mat so your dog settles while you take your time over the menu, and keep the lead short, as the deck fills with foot traffic around meal peaks.

The vibe

The ocean outlook is the main draw, alongside a broad menu of seafood and modern pub dishes, prawn linguine, fish tacos and cocktails. It opens from 11:30am daily. The adjacent kiosk does weekend coffee and cinnamon scrolls if you want something simpler.

Pepsi: grab the deck at golden hour and you get the view and the sea breeze at once. Book the outdoor table before the weekend rush, because everyone else has the same idea.

Getting there

The venue sits on Gerringong's main street, with street parking along Fern Street that fills on busy days and a public car park nearby. Werri Beach is just down the hill for a walk before or after.
