Missi Moo Moo

Missi Moo Moo is a small gelato shop on Fern Street in the middle of Gerringong, a coastal town about two hours south of Sydney. It scoops Italian-style gelato and sorbet, with the handcrafted range supplied by Cremoso Gelato Italiano, and dogs are welcome at the footpath seating out front while you work through a scoop.

The dog setup

Seating is casual and out on the footpath, so your dog stays beside you on a short lead, and dogs are not taken inside the shop. Water is often put out for passing dogs, but carry your own to be safe. Keep the lead short here, since you are right on the main street footpath with foot traffic going past.

Worth knowing

The flavour list rotates and the fruit sorbets, pistachio and biscoff flavours come up among the favourites. Hours run 11am to 5pm most days, closed Tuesdays, and can shift with the season, so check their Instagram for current opening days before making the trip. It works best as an add-on to a beach walk rather than a fixed plan.

Getting there and parking

Fern Street is Gerringong's main strip, with street parking along the road. It is easy to reach on foot if you are already in town, and the walk up from Werri Beach is short enough to make gelato the finish line.

Close by with the dogs

Werri Beach has a Kiama council off-leash zone in the middle section between Miller Street and Moore Street, sunrise to sunset, with dogs on lead at the pathway entrances. After the run, Clay Coffee Collective and the kiosk at Werri Beach cover the coffee side of a dog day out, and The Hill Bar and Kitchen is the village's dinner option.
