The Arbor

The Arbor is the open-air terrace and beer garden within The Old Synagogue precinct on South Terrace, a relaxed spot for craft beer, cocktails and modern pub food. The green, partly shaded courtyard is the dog-friendly draw, with plenty of room to settle in.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard and terrace areas, not inside the enclosed restaurant spaces. The garden is spacious enough to tuck a dog securely under the table out of the foot traffic. Staff are generally accommodating; bring your own collapsible bowl, as water for dogs is on request.

Good to know. It is one of the better-known dog-friendly bars in Freo, with a wide craft beer and cocktail list, modern pub food and live music on some days. It can get busy and loud once a band is on, which is worth weighing up for a noise-shy dog.

Getting there. The precinct is at 92 South Terrace, with entry off Parry Street. Street parking nearby gets busy, so try the neighbouring blocks or a commercial lot. It is an easy walk through the heart of Fremantle.

Nearby with the dogs. The Esplanade Reserve is a short walk for an on-lead run, the Fremantle Markets are close, and the South Terrace strip has plenty of other dog-friendly outdoor tables to string together.

When to go. A weekday afternoon or early evening is the calmest for the courtyard. Weekends and live-music sessions fill the garden, so arrive early for a shaded table with space for the lead.
