The Tav Sportsbar is a classic local pub on Queen Street in central Busselton, a sports-focused eating house and TAB that turned its beer garden dog-friendly. If you want a counter meal and the footy on while the dog settles under the table, this is the spot.

The dog setup. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden. Indoors stays people-only under health rules, so plan to sit outside. Tables in the outdoor area are spaced out, giving the dog room to lie down by your chair. Bring your own water bowl and treats, though staff will often bring a bowl over when they are not slammed.

Good to know. This is Busselton's go-to for live sport on the big screens, with a TAB area and generous, honest pub meals at fair prices. Weekly specials run through the week.

Getting there. 117 Queen Street, in the heart of town. There is street parking out the front on Queen Street with time limits, plus free public parking behind the businesses via the side streets.

Order at the bar with a second person holding the lead, or pick a table you can see the counter from. A busy sports crowd is not the time to tie up out of sight.

Nearby with the dogs. The Busselton foreshore and Geographe Bay paths are a short drive or a long walk away for a leg-stretch.

Best to avoid the peak of a major fixture if your dog is noise-shy, the screens and crowd get loud. Good for settled dogs who tune out a busy room.
