Bull Creek Tavern

The Bull Creek Tavern, known to locals as the Bully, sits at 52-54 Benningfield Road on the corner of South Street in Bull Creek, doing hearty pub classics and big-screen sport for the southern suburbs. Dogs are welcome on a lead in the designated outdoor dining and footpath seating, and this is a pub with a genuine soft spot for animals: it has run Pours and Paws fundraising nights for rescue groups such as K9 Rescue, complete with meat raffles and pet photography.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor dining areas, on leash and off the furniture. Under Western Australian food safety rules they cannot come inside or near the indoor bistro, so if the weather turns you may need to wait it out or come back another day. Staff can usually produce a water bowl on request, but a portable bowl in the car removes the gamble. There are no house rules beyond the usual: lead on, stay clear of walkways, and let the staff know if another dog is causing trouble.

Worth knowing

The kitchen leans generous: chicken parmi, steak sandwiches, pork belly bites, lamb shank and salt and pepper calamari, with a sports bar out the back and a beer of the month on tap. It trades from 11am to 10pm every day, so it works as a weeknight dinner option as much as a weekend one. There is no dedicated dog menu, so bring something from home if your dog wants to participate in the meal.

Getting there and parking

There is ample free parking on site at the Benningfield Road and South Street corner, and Transperth buses run along South Street if you would rather not drive. Bull Creek train station on the Mandurah line is also close by.

Close by with the dogs

Piney Lakes Dog Play Park in Winthrop is minutes away and is the standout option nearby: a fully fenced City of Melville park with separate zones for large and small dogs, agility equipment and sand pits, ideal before a sit-down lunch. For a coffee stop in the suburb itself, The Little Parry is a dog-friendly local, and La Moon Cafe is a short drive west in Kardinya.
