The Little Parry

The Little Parry is a compact, well-liked neighbourhood cafe in the Parry Avenue Village Centre in Bull Creek, doing brunch and specialty coffee for the locals six mornings a week. Dogs are welcome in the undercover outdoor seating out front, which is the main reason it earns a leashed visit from the suburb's dog owners.

The dog setup

The alfresco tables along the front of the cafe are where dogs go; indoors is for service animals only, so plan your visit around the weather rather than hoping for a inside table. Water bowls are usually out for the outdoor area, but pack your own bowl on busy mornings in case they are all in use. The space is compact, so a settled dog on a short lead makes everything easier for the floor staff.

Worth knowing

The kitchen has a following for its brunch standards: chicken and waffles, salmon bagels, croffles, chilli scram and eggs benedict, with almond croissants and matcha lattes for the coffee-and-pastry crowd. Hours run 6am to 2pm weekdays and 6:30am to 2pm weekends. Weekends get busy, so a mid-morning weekday visit gives you a much better shot at an outdoor table with room for a lead.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 4/118 Parry Avenue in the Parry Avenue Village Centre, an easy detour off Leach Highway or the Kwinana Freeway via the South Street exit, and free parking sits directly in front of the shops.

Close by with the dogs

Parry Village Reserve next to the shops works for a quick on-lead stretch before or after coffee. For proper off-lead time, the City of Melville designates Bull Creek Park on Curedale Mews and Trevor Gribble Park, both on the Bull Creek side of the freeway, as dog exercise areas, while Richard Lewis Park on Bull Creek Drive adds a bushland-and-wetland walk with off-lead zones away from the sensitive sections.
