Scentsory Garden - Dog Sensory Garden

Scentsory Garden is a small, fully-fenced off-leash space on Todville Street in Woodville West, built specifically for dogs to explore by scent rather than to run or play with a crowd. It suits nervous, elderly or shy dogs far better than a standard dog park.

The rules. The garden is designed for one or two dogs at a time, not group play. Dogs must be well-behaved and supervised by their owner throughout. Check both gates are secure on entry and exit, since it uses a double-gate system, and pick up after your dog.

What's there. The space is planted with dog-safe herbs, shrubs and fragrant plants for sniffing, with benches for owners. Fencing is secure and grounds are generally well kept, but water on site is limited, so bring your own bowl and water.

Getting there. The garden is at 25/27 Todville Street, Woodville West. Street parking is available along Todville Street, and local bus stops on Findon Road or Port Road are within walking distance.

Nearby with the dogs. Dog-friendly cafes are dotted along Findon Road and in neighbouring Woodville and Beverley, and pet-friendly accommodation around Woodville and West Lakes is roughly five to ten minutes away.

Go mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday for the quietest visit. After-school and after-work hours, roughly 4.30pm to 6.30pm, and weekend mornings draw more visitors, so time it around a nervous or older dog's needs rather than your own schedule.
