Dudley Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Dudley Road Reserve is one of Wonga Park's low-key designated off-leash areas under Manningham Council's Order No. 4, a patch of unfenced natural open space that serves the surrounding streets rather than drawing visitors from further out. If you live nearby it is a handy daily-run option; if you are driving in, the suburb has bigger reserves.

The dog setup

Off-lead is permitted while your dog stays under effective control, in sight and returning on command. There is no fencing here, so this is a voice-control space rather than a secure run. Go on-lead within 15 metres of any barbecue or play equipment and whenever organised sport is in progress, and leash up around the road on arrival and exit.

Max: bring your own water. There is no tap at this reserve, and the nearest reliable bowls are back at the bigger Wonga Park reserves.

Worth knowing

Facilities are minimal: open grass, informal paths and street parking on Dudley Road, with no dog water tap, so carry water and bags. Published council detail on this reserve is thin, so check the on-site signage for the current off-leash boundary. The upside of the bare-bones setup is that it stays quiet at most hours, which suits nervous or reactive dogs.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits on Dudley Road in Wonga Park, in Melbourne's outer northeast, and parking is on the street beside the reserve. There are no formal facilities on site, so treat it as a quick exercise stop rather than a destination with an outing attached.

Close by with the dogs

For toilets, proper parking and more room, Wonga Park Reserve and Arthur John Upton Reserve are both a short drive away. The Warrandyte River Reserve adds a riverside option further along, and the Yarra River water frontage trails make a good on-lead leg stretch after the reserve.
