Colbarra Place Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Colbarra Place Reserve is a fully fenced, off-leash dog park at the north end of Colbarra Reserve in West Pennant Hills, run by The Hills Shire Council and bordered by Blue Gum high forest bushland. For locals wanting to let their dogs run without watching the perimeter, it is the secure option in the suburb, open around the clock.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fenced to about 1.5 metres with a double-gated airlock entry, so the escape risk is low if gates are closed properly behind you. Ground is a mix of grass and concrete with a paved pathway through, which also makes it one of the better parks in the area for handlers with mobility needs: solid access, four stainless steel benches, and a dedicated bubbler and water station for dogs. Free doggy bags and bins are provided on site, though carry spares. Locals often leave a communal box of shared dog toys, an informal extra that is not guaranteed on every visit.

Standard Hills Shire conditions apply: stay inside with your dog, keep effective control, leash and remove any dog that turns unsafe, and keep dogs on lead everywhere in the reserve outside the fenced enclosure.

Max: the double-gated entry is excellent for anxious dogs, but always wait for the inner gate to close before you open the outer one. Rushed gates are how escapes happen at even the best fenced parks.

The vibe

This is a small neighbourhood park at the end of a cul-de-sac rather than a regional drawcard, and it carries a modest review base. The bushland setting gives it a quieter feel than the big open reserves in the Hills District, and the 24-hour access suits early-morning routines.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 16Z Colbarra Place, at the end of a cul-de-sac in a quiet residential area. Street parking near the entrance is limited, so factor that in at busy times. Pennant Hills Station is the nearest rail access, but this is a car-first destination.

Close by with the dogs

For a second fenced run, Greenway Park Fenced Dog Park at Cherrybrook is a short drive, and Remy Cafe & Bistro at Castle Hill covers the post-park coffee with outdoor seating.
