Pyes Creek swing bridge

The Pyes Creek swing bridge is the centrepiece of a short bushland loop between Dural and Cherrybrook, a 50-metre pedestrian suspension bridge built in 2023 that links the tracks over the creek. It is a quick, scenic walk that dogs can join on lead.

The walk. The full loop is roughly 800 metres of largely forested track, an easy stroll of about 30 minutes at a gentle pace. The bridge itself moves underfoot as you cross, which is part of the appeal but worth knowing if your dog is easily spooked.

The rules. Dogs must be on lead throughout the bushland and across the bridge. Stay on the marked tracks to protect the habitat, pick up after your dog, and keep noise down, as the trail runs close to houses on both sides.

The water. There are several points along the loop where dogs can reach Pyes Creek for a paddle. There are no taps or facilities on the track, so carry your own water and waste bags.

Getting there. Access is from Fallon Drive Reserve on the Dural side, or Keighran Place on the Cherrybrook side, reached via New Line Road and Castle Hill Road. Parking is on the residential streets at either end, so park considerately. There is a playground near the Fallon Drive entry. Public transport is limited to buses, so driving is easier.

Weekends and sunny weekday mornings are the busy stretches, and the bridge only takes small groups at a time. Go early or midweek for a calm run. Good for a short, leafy outing rather than a big off-lead workout.
