Reserve/Dog Park

The Reserve dog park at Toormina, south of Coffs Harbour, is a designated off-leash area open 24 hours a day. That round-the-clock access is its defining feature: dawn runs, midday leg stretches or late-night toilet laps all work without thinking about gates or closing times.

The dog setup

Dogs can run off-leash here but must stay under effective voice control by a competent person at all times. City of Coffs Harbour rules apply across the reserve: pick up waste immediately, and keep dogs out of children's play areas, off sports fields, and at least 10 metres from food preparation or serving areas. The sports fields at nearby Toormina Oval are out of bounds for dogs during use, so treat the oval precinct as on-lead territory and save the off-lead running for the designated reserve space.

Max: voice control means voice control. If your dog will not recall reliably around other dogs, keep the lead on until that is solid.

The vibe

Because the park never closes, timing is flexible and the crowd patterns follow the suburb rather than a roster. Morning and evening walkers are the core regulars, with a quieter feel through the middle of the day. It is a practical neighbourhood ground rather than a built dog park, so bring your own water and manage around the sports users who share the broader reserve precinct.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits within the Toormina residential-sports precinct, handy to the Toormina Gardens shopping centre and a short hop off the Pacific Highway's Coffs Harbour exits. Parking is on-street around the reserve and oval, with the sports-ground car park the easiest option outside match times.

Close by with the dogs

Thompsons Road Reserve fenced dog park is the fully fenced, double-gated option to the north if secure boundaries matter. For a beach leg, the Boambee off-leash beach is close by. Coffee is sorted by Artisti Coffee Roasters in Toormina, the Soley's On The Creek at Boambee Creek Reserve makes a proper breakfast stop, and the Toormina Hotel is the local dinner option.
