The rules. Because this is an unfenced, off-leash park, Brisbane City Council's standard conditions apply: dogs must be under effective voice control and within sight at all times. The water. The main draw is direct access to Enoggera Creek, with natural shallow areas suited to a splash and paddle. Because Queensland creeks can rise quickly after heavy rain, check conditions before letting your dog swim, and avoid the creek altogether if it's running high or fast after a downpour.

What's there. Concrete pathways and a viewing platform connect to the Enoggera Creek Bikeway, plus a children's playground and sheltered picnic gazebos for the humans. There are no public toilets and no dog-specific agility equipment on-site, so plan accordingly.

Getting there. The main entrance and street parking are off Yoorala Street, roughly 15 minutes north-west of the Brisbane CBD by car. TransLink buses on Waterworks Road (routes including 381 and 385) get you close, with a short walk through residential streets to the entrance. Nearby with the dogs. The Lodge Espresso & Tea House, near The Gap Village Shopping Centre, has a dog-friendly patio and is a popular stop for coffee or brunch after a creek walk. If your dog needs a rinse before the car ride home, The Pooch Palace wash and groom facility is across the road at the same shopping centre. Dedicated pet-friendly stays are thin in The Gap itself; nearby inner-west suburbs are a better bet for a pet-friendly rental.

When to go. Weekday mornings or midday give you the creek largely to yourselves. Weekends and the post-work stretch on weekdays bring out local cyclists and dog walkers sharing the same paths, so keep dogs close on the bikeway sections. Good for water-loving dogs who want space to roam off-leash without a fence.
