Merri Merri Park Fenced Dog Park

Merri Merri Park is a fully fenced off-leash area on Greenford Street in Chapel Hill, a solid pick if you want your dog running free without worrying about traffic or a bolt for the gate.

The rules. Dogs are permitted off-leash inside the fenced boundary only, and owners need to stay within the fence and supervise at all times. Cleanup is mandatory, with bags and bins provided. Any dog showing aggression should be leashed and removed.

Weekday mornings and mid-afternoon are the quietest windows; the fenced yard gets busiest on weekday evenings from around 4:30 to 6pm and on weekend mornings. After heavy rain, expect mud, so this is a better dry-weather stop for dogs that hate a bath afterwards. Good for dogs that need a secure space to properly stretch their legs off lead.
