Greenmeadows Gardens Dog Off Leash Area

Greenmeadows Gardens is a small, well-kept suburban park on the corner of Green Street and Milburn Grove, with a dedicated off-leash section and a water tap that makes it a solid regular walk rather than a big-day-out destination.

The rules. Off-leash access applies to the grassy section north of Melby Avenue. The larger southern part of the park is on-leash, with Glen Eira Council listing an early-morning off-leash window there too, so confirm current times on the council site before relying on it. Dogs need to be on-leash within 20 metres of the playground, BBQs and picnic areas, and under voice control at all times.

What's there. A water tap with a dog bowl in the off-leash section, waste bags and bins, benches along the paths, a small playground and a rotunda near the on-leash area. The paths can get muddy in the unsealed sections after rain.

Getting there. Street parking is available along Green Road, Milburn Grove and Lempriere Avenue. Trams 3, 3a and 16 (stop 42) run nearby, and buses 220, 216 and 219 stop close to the park on Milburn Grove and Melby Avenue.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes along Hawthorn Road to the east and Carlisle Street to the north generally offer outdoor seating and are dog-friendly, and there's a spread of pet-friendly stays around St Kilda East and neighbouring Elsternwick if you're visiting from out of town.

Weekend mornings and the 6am to 9am window on weekdays are when the whole park is busiest with local walkers. For a quieter lap, stick to the designated off-leash section between 10am and 3pm.
