Riviera Reserve is a large open sports reserve on Eel Race Road in Seaford, with wide grassy fields used by local cricket and football clubs. For dogs, it offers genuine room for running and fetch, with the trade-off that it is unfenced and sits close to the road.

The rules. Dogs must be on-leash within 10 metres of the central playground and barbecue areas, and during organised sport or training on the fields. Outside those zones, dogs must stay under strict voice control and carry a lead at all times, both to keep clear of Eel Race Road and to avoid disturbing other park users. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.

What's there. There is a water tap and fountain usually fitted with a bowl, shaded perimeter seating, an enclosed central playground and public toilets. Free parking is available around the reserve.

Getting there. Seaford and Kananook stations on the Frankston line are both roughly a 20 to 25 minute walk away, and local bus routes drop nearby. There is curb-side and car park parking on site.

It is busiest on weekend mornings and weekday afternoons when clubs train, so reactive dogs are better off mid-morning or midday. Good for dogs that want open space to stretch out.
