Rocherlea Recreation Ground Fenced Dog Park sits at 38 Lilydale Road in Rocherlea, about ten minutes north of Launceston's centre. Within the wider recreation ground is a securely fenced off-leash enclosure, set apart from the manicured sports fields, and that fence is the whole reason to come: a proper run behind a safe boundary.

Weekday afternoons between 3pm and 5pm and weekend mornings around 10am draw the most owners; early mornings are quiet and better for older dogs or anyone still working on recall. Expect a friendly neighbourhood crowd rather than a revolving cast of visitors.

Getting there and parking

From Launceston, head north up Lilydale Road (the B81) and the recreation ground appears on the left as you reach Rocherlea. On-site parking sits by the ground. Metro Tasmania buses run along Lilydale Road and stop near the entrance, so it is reachable without a car if your dog is a good passenger.

While you're out there

Back towards town, Heritage Forest Fenced Dog Park at Invermay is the nearest alternative fenced option, and Mowbray's Mobrew Coffee is an easy coffee stop on the way through. In the city itself, Aroma's Cafe and The Devil's Own Ice Creamery round out a dog day out.
