A community reserve off Harringtons Lane and W Ruthven Street, with large open grassy areas, paved paths, an outdoor gym and a big playground. Dogs run off-leash in the designated open spaces, the main oval included, making it a handy all-rounder for a local walk and a run.

The rules. Off-leash in the designated areas under effective voice control. Dogs must be on lead within 10 metres of playgrounds and barbecue areas. Carry a lead and clip it on before leaving the zone, and clean up after your dog, fines apply.

What's there. Benches, bins, and drinking fountains for people and dogs, plus the outdoor gym and a spread-out playground (keep dogs on lead near the play equipment).

Getting there. Reached via Cheddar Road, W Ruthven Street, or Harringtons Lane, with street parking on the surrounding residential streets and local bus routes within walking distance.

Busiest early morning and late afternoon on weekdays. Mid-morning or early afternoon midweek gives a nervous dog the most space. Because the playground is spread through the reserve, the off-leash area can sit close to busier zones, so keep an eye on your surroundings.
