Englefield Road Park Fenced Dog Park

Englefield Road Park's fenced dog area is one of Brisbane's southwest's better-equipped off-lead enclosures: two fully fenced sections with shade, water and agility gear, run under Brisbane City Council's off-leash rules and open daily from 6am to 10pm.

The dog setup

The park splits into separate fenced enclosures, with a large field for the big runners and a smaller agility-focused section alongside, so size groups are easier to manage than at a single-pad park. Both entries are double gated: leash up until you are through both gates, then unclip. Standard council rules apply throughout, including carrying a leash, keeping effective control, picking up with the provided dispensers and bins, and leashing and removing any dog that gets too pushy.

Max: the double gate only works if the outer gate is latched before the inner one opens. Check both every single time, yours and the one someone else left.

Worth knowing

The equipment list goes beyond a bare field: log-balancing obstacles, a sandpit for diggers, shade umbrellas and newer benches for the humans, dog water on site and waste bag dispensers spread around. Reviews consistently rate it well on cleanliness and maintenance, which matters when you are here every day. Small dogs have the smaller enclosure as their refuge, though there is no separate small-dog zone inside the main field.

Getting there and parking

The park sits at 39 Englefield Road, Oxley, just off the Ipswich Motorway, with free street parking along Englefield Road and Mabel Street near the entrance. Oxley station is about a 1.2 kilometre walk, roughly 15 minutes on foot, if you are coming by train and your dog is comfortable on lead.

When to go

Weekday mornings from about 6.30 to 8.30 and the 4.30 to 6pm after-work window draw the biggest crowds. Mid-morning to early afternoon is the lull, which is the slot for reactive, shy or easily overwhelmed dogs. Weekends hum along steadily through the middle of the day.

Close by with the dogs
