North St Marys Fenced Dog Park

North St Marys Fenced Dog Park is a modern, purpose-built off-leash park inside the Gipps Street Recreation Precinct on Boronia Road, and its headline feature is real separation: dedicated fenced enclosures for small dogs and large dogs, each fitted with integrated agility equipment.

The dog setup

Both enclosures are fully fenced with an air-lock double-gate entry, so keep the lead on until you are inside and the gates are shut. Dogs under effective voice control, owners present and supervising, and leash carried at all times are the Penrith City Council conditions, along with a vaccination requirement and a ban on food and wheeled gear like bikes and scooters inside the run. Waste bag dispensers and bins are on site. There are dog drinking fountains inside the enclosures, plus bench seating and shaded picnic tables, and floodlights keep the park usable into the evening, with council listing precinct gates at 6am to 10:30pm and lights on until 9pm.

Max: the small-dog side is the whole reason to come here with a little one. Use it, and never prop the double gates open while you shuffle through.

The vibe

This is a new-generation park attached to a full recreation precinct, so it feels maintained and structured rather than a dusty corner of an oval. The surrounding precinct adds sports fields, a skate park and playgrounds for mixed family trips. Shade is decent but not total, and in warm weather avoid the peak summer afternoons. One local hazard worth respecting: snakes are a known seasonal presence around the precinct, so stick to mown areas and keep your dog in sight, particularly in the warmer months.

Getting there and parking

The park is on Boronia Road in North St Marys, with free street parking directly along Boronia Road. St Marys station is the nearest rail link, but the precinct is a bus connection or a longish walk from the platform, so most visitors drive. The St Marys town centre and Queen Street shops are a few minutes south.

Close by with the dogs

Gipps Street Recreation Precinct Fenced Dog Park and Claremont Meadows Fenced Dog Park cover the precinct's southern side, and the Werrington dog off-leash area is the option further west. Cassandra's on the Park is a dog-friendly coffee stop in St Marys, and Stockmans Motel at Kingswood takes dogs if you are passing through with a rig and a hound.
