Tregear Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits within the broader Tregear Reserve on Forrester Road, Tregear. The defining feature is security: fully enclosed fencing with double-gate airlock entries, split across two separate enclosures designed to keep small or timid dogs apart from large, boisterous ones. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The rules. Dogs may run off-leash only inside the fenced enclosures and must remain under effective voice control at all times. A leash is required everywhere outside those fences, including the surrounding Tregear Reserve sportsfields, walking paths and the route to and from the gates. Dangerous or restricted breed-type dogs are prohibited from the off-leash area. Owners must pick up and dispose of all droppings immediately.

What's there. Double-gate airlock entries at the access points prevent dogs slipping out as people come and go. The two separate fenced areas allow you to choose the enclosure that suits your dog's size and temperament. Benches are provided for owners inside the enclosed spaces, and the park is wheelchair accessible. The surrounding reserve adds a baseball field, a playground and walking paths, with the Ropes Creek walking path linking through to the dog park.

Getting there. Street parking is available on or near Forrester Road. Nearby buses service local streets, so check the Transport for NSW website for current routes. If you are coming on foot with your dog, the Ropes Creek walking path provides a direct approach, keeping in mind the leash requirement until you are inside the fenced area.

Nearby with the dogs. Tregear is mainly residential, so for a coffee or a bite afterwards the closest worthwhile stops are Cassandra's on the Park in St Marys and TNB Cafe in Rooty Hill.

The leash rule applies the moment you step outside the fence, including the short walk from the car. Clip on before you exit the airlock, not after.

When to go. Weekday mid-morning or mid-afternoon is the quietest window. The park is busiest from 6 to 8am and 4 to 6pm on weekdays and weekends. Because the surrounding reserve includes a baseball facility, expect extra foot traffic nearby during game times. Being open-air, the ground can be wet and muddy after rain, though the fencing keeps dogs contained regardless. Good for owners wanting a genuinely secure off-leash run and dogs that benefit from a size-matched enclosure.
