Maleny Dog Park (designated off leash area)

Maleny Dog Park sits in the Maleny Community Precinct on Parkland Drive, off Porters Lane in North Maleny, a fully fenced off-leash area with separate enclosures for small and large dogs and natural shade through the grounds.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced enclosures and go back on lead anywhere else in the precinct. Owners are expected to keep dogs under effective voice control and remove waste immediately.

Check the signage on arrival, as Sunshine Coast Council can update local rules. The split enclosures mean a boisterous dog and a nervous small dog do not have to share the same space, which helps with mixed packs or a dog still finding its feet.

Worth knowing

Inside the precinct there is seating for owners, natural shade and connecting footpaths for an on-lead walk before or after park time. As a newer facility, drinking taps inside the enclosures can be limited, so carry water and a portable bowl.

Weekend mornings between 9am and 11am are the busiest stretch, while weekday mornings and early afternoons give a settling dog more room.

Getting there and parking

From the Maleny town centre, head north on Maple Street and Maleny-Kenilworth Road for about five minutes, then turn onto Porters Lane and follow the signs to the Community Precinct.

Free parking sits right there on Parkland Drive. There is no direct public transport, so it is a drive or a decent walk from town.

Make a day of it

The Baroon Pocket Dam (North Maleny side) is close by for a shaded, dog-friendly waterside walk, and Maleny's Maple Street strip is five minutes back the other way.
