Wilsonson Heights Dog Park is a fully fenced, roughly 2.6-hectare off-leash area at 1 Clearview Street in Newtown, open 24 hours, with agility equipment and enough shaded ground to let a dog run properly.
The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control at all times, even inside the fenced area. Close gates immediately behind you when entering or leaving. Dogs need to be registered with Toowoomba Regional Council, and dangerous, menacing, or on-heat dogs are not permitted. Pick up after your dog using the bins provided.
What's there. A dedicated agility section for training, mature trees for shade, open lawn for a proper run, and pathways connecting it all. A playground, skate and bike track, and outdoor exercise equipment for humans sit alongside the dog area, so it works for the whole family.
Getting there. The park is at 1 Clearview Street, Newtown, in the Wilsonton Heights area. Street parking is available on Clearview Street. Local Translink bus routes serve the Wilsonton/Newtown area if you are not driving.
Nearby with the dogs. Wilsonton Shopping Centre is about five minutes away and has cafes with outdoor seating. Pet-friendly motels and cabins are available across greater Toowoomba if you need to stay over.
When to go. Weekend mornings between 8 and 10am draw the biggest crowds; mid-week mornings or early afternoons are quieter and better for one-on-one training. The park's size means shaded spots are limited during the 11am to 2pm sun, so keep an eye on your dog if you are there over the middle of the day.
