Cobber Park

Cobber Park is the City of Gold Coast's purpose-built answer to the western suburbs' dog exercise gap, tucked into the residential streets off Lambor Drive in Mudgeeraba. The council sets it up as a dedicated dog exercise park, and the layout follows the model that works: two fully fenced enclosures, one for large dogs and one for small, so a nervous spoodle and a boisterous shepherd can both get a run without the size mismatch that ruins smaller parks.

The fittings are more complete than most suburban dog parks manage. A water tap with a dedicated dog bowl sits inside the complex, shade structures cover the seating lines, and bag dispensers and bins are placed at the gates. Outside the fenced enclosures the park rules revert to standard Gold Coast conditions: dogs on leash, lead in hand, waste picked up. Locals also use the walking path that loops the park, and there is a basketball court on the broader reserve for anyone juggling kids and dogs in the same outing.

The dog setup

Per council guidance, both enclosures are fenced with gates that close behind you, and the small-dog side gives little dogs a genuine option rather than a corner of the big yard. The water tap and bowl mean you do not need to haul a bottle on hot afternoons, though in summer the shade structures are at a premium from late morning. Because this is a council-designated dog park, the rules are straightforward and published: register your dog, carry a leash outside the enclosures, and respect the muzzle requirements that apply to declared dogs.

Mudgeeraba has a small cluster of dog-friendly cafes a few minutes back towards the village.
