Dunns Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Dunns Road Reserve is Mount Martha's main dog ground: a flat, open grassy reserve close to the village, with a fully fenced agility park at its northern end and open parkland around it. The two setups work together. Dogs with reliable recall get the run of the designated off-leash parts of the open reserve, while the fenced enclosure alongside handles everyone else, from puppies to escape artists.

Off-leash status

Off-leash applies in the designated parts of the open reserve, under effective voice control, with the wider rules set by Mornington Peninsula Shire: leash carried, waste binned, and dogs supervised around other dogs and people. The northern section of the reserve is the off-leash zone; check on-site signage for current boundaries since the shire reviews its dog rules periodically. The open ground has no fencing and sits near streets, so if your dog is still learning recall, use the fenced park instead. Its double-gated entry, agility equipment and water tap with bowl make it the easy option for most visits.

Water and terrain

The reserve is level, open grass, easy on older joints and good for ball work. Water is available near the fenced section, bench seating rings the park, and public toilets sit about fifty metres away next to the playground and barbecues at the reserve's family end.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits on Dunns Road, Mount Martha, with on-site parking beside the grounds. Easiest reached by car via Hearn Road off the Nepean Highway; it is a few minutes' drive from the Mount Martha village shops on Lochiel Avenue.

When to go

Weekday mid-mornings are the calmest stretch; after-work hours and weekend mornings bring the regulars out in force. If the open reserve feels too busy or your dog needs boundaries, the fenced agility park alongside takes the pressure off.
