Summerhill Park Dog Off Leash Area(Mooroolbark)

Summerhill Park's off-leash area sits at the back of the reserve off Taylor Road in Mooroolbark, a large grassy zone set apart from the sports grounds so dogs have their own space to run and socialise. Reports suggest the boundary is fenced, which sets it apart from Mooroolbark's open drainage basins.

The rules. Dogs may be off-leash in the designated back reserve but must stay under effective voice or hand control, and you should carry a lead. Keep dogs on-lead near the adjacent playspace, walking paths and within 20 metres of fixed barbecue or picnic areas. Clean up after your dog and use the bins provided.

What is there. The area includes basic dog agility obstacles including a tunnel, plenty of flat open grass for running, bench seating for owners and waste bins. It is a good spot for socialisation and a bit of casual training.

Getting there. The reserve is at 127-133 Taylor Road, with entry to the dog-friendly West Reserve via Taylor Road and on-site parking nearby.

Max: The perimeter is fenced but the gates may not be self-latching airlock style, so if your dog is an escape artist, check the gate behind you before letting them off.

Mornings and late afternoons tend to be the most social. The town-centre cafes a few minutes' drive away are handy for a coffee afterwards.
