Bent Street Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash area at Bent Street Reserve in Moonee Ponds, run by Moonee Valley City Council. It started as a trial in late 2024 and, after strong local support, is being built into a permanent facility with construction underway in mid-2026. The secure fencing is the reason to choose it over the open riverside parks.
The rules. Dogs are off-leash inside the fenced area only, and on lead in the surrounding reserve and car park. Owners must stay inside the fence and keep their dog in sight and under effective control. Bag and bin your dog's waste using the bins provided. Commercial dog training needs a council permit.
What's there. A secured, fenced run with sensory elements, logs and boulders to explore and sit on, new drinking fountains for dogs and people, and fresh tree plantings. There are no public toilets or barbecues on site. Because works are ongoing through 2026, expect the layout to change as the permanent build is completed.
Getting there. Bent Street Reserve is reached via Mt Alexander Road or Pascoe Vale Road, with street parking on surrounding streets. It is within walking distance of Moonee Ponds Junction and its tram routes, including the 59 and 82, plus bus services.

When to go. Busiest early morning and around 5pm to 7pm, plus weekend mornings, since it was built for local evening walks. For a quieter session, try weekday mid-morning or mid-afternoon. At peak times park on a neighbouring street rather than right on Bent Street. Good for dogs who need a secure fence.
