Holmes Hall is a big, plant-filled bar and eatery at 15 Holmes Road, a former supermarket turned 300-seat venue a minute from Moonee Ponds station. For dogs, the draw is the covered outdoor beer garden, which is where they are welcome.

Nearby with the dogs. Queens Park is close for a pre- or post-pub walk, and the Puckle Street precinct is walkable with more cafes.

When to go. An earlier or off-peak visit suits dogs best, before the DJ and event nights bring the crowd and the noise. Good for owners of a relaxed, sociable dog who copes with a busy room next door.
