What visitors mention
Travancore Park's off-leash area is a long, narrow strip of grass at 80 Mooltan Street, running beside the Moonee Ponds Creek and a sound wall. It's off-leash 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, which makes it a reliable option whenever you're passing through, though the narrow layout means you're often walking close to other dogs rather than spreading out.
The rules. Off-leash applies across the strip at all times. Dogs need to be under effective voice control. Leash up in the playground area and on shared paths, and when entering or leaving the park. Pick up after your dog, waste bags are not reliably supplied so bring your own. The creek side is unfenced, so keep an eye on dogs near the water.
What's there. A water tap with a bowl, unshaded seating along the path, public toilets, a fenced children's playground next to the off-leash area, and a gravel multi-use path running the length of the park.
Getting there. Free street parking along Mooltan Street, though it fills up at peak times. Newmarket Station on the Craigieburn line is a short walk away, and the 59 tram on Mount Alexander Road (Stop 25) drops you a few minutes' walk from the entrance.

The Humble Goat cafe sits directly opposite the park on Boundary Road and is dog-friendly with coffee and pastries. Wolf and Hound Cafe in Flemington, about a 10-minute walk towards Newmarket Station, is another dog-friendly option nearby.
Weekday early mornings and 5pm to 6.30pm, plus weekend mid-mornings, are the busiest times. For a quieter walk, aim for the middle of the day or later in the evening.
