Travancore Park Dog Off Leash Area

Travancore Park's off-leash area is a long, narrow strip of grass at 80 Mooltan Street, running beside the Moonee Ponds Creek and a sound wall. It is off-leash around the clock, seven days a week, which makes it a reliable option whenever you are passing through, though the linear layout means you are often walking close to other dogs rather than spreading out.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies across the strip at all times, with dogs under effective voice control. Leash up in the playground area, on shared paths and when entering or leaving the park, and remember dogs are legally prohibited within 15 metres of playgrounds and BBQs under council rules.

The creek side is unfenced, so keep an eye on dogs near the water, and the gravel multi-use path that runs the length of the park carries cyclists and pedestrians, so cut off the sprint lines before they develop. Waste bags are not reliably supplied, so bring your own.

The vibe

This is a commuter-friendly neighbourhood strip rather than a destination park: tap with a dog bowl, unshaded seating along the path, public toilets and a fenced playground next door. It shines as part of a Moonee Ponds Creek walk where the dog gets genuine off-lead time without leaving the corridor.

Getting there

The park sits off Mooltan Street in Travancore, directly on the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, so it slots naturally into a walk from Flemington or Moonee Ponds. Street parking is available in surrounding streets and the Upfield and Craigieburn lines are within walking reach via the trail network.
