Creek Park Fenced Dog Park sits at 146W Mernda Village Drive, on the corner with Plenty Road, and it takes a different approach to most suburban dog parks. Instead of a flat grass field, the fenced area is built as a rugged nature playground of wood mulch and sand under established gum trees, with zoned sections that let nervous or older dogs keep their distance from the rough players. Outside the fence, Whittlesea is an on-lead municipality, so the leash goes back on the moment you leave. Inside, your dog needs effective voice control and constant supervision, no rushing other dogs or people, and pick up straight away using the bins provided.

Two things to plan around: the park is unlit, so a winter evening visit means bringing your own light, and the mulch-and-sand surface is uneven underfoot, which matters for older dogs and for your own footing after dark.

Entries sit off Mernda Village Drive and Perry Street, with street parking along both. It is an easy walk from central Mernda, and the kids playground and barbecue facilities across the road make it work for a family outing where the dog gets a proper run too.

When to go

Weekday mornings and early afternoons are the quiet stretch. Late afternoons from about 4pm to 6pm and weekends draw the biggest crowds, so if your dog prefers calm space to sprint space, go early on a weekday.
