High Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park

High Street Reserve is a fully fenced, 24 hour off-leash dog park on King Street in the middle of Mascot. What makes it worth seeking out is the layout: two separate enclosures joined by double-gated airlock entries, so small or timid dogs get their own space and everyone enters without a gate dash onto the street.

The dog setup

The two-yard split does the heavy lifting. One side suits big, boisterous dogs, the other is set aside for small or nervous ones, and each runs its own double-gate. Bayside Council rules apply across the reserve: dogs must be in sight and under effective voice control even inside the fence, leashes go back on through the airlock on the way in and out, and there is a maximum of four dogs per handler. Any dog showing aggression needs to be leashed and taken out. NSW registration applies as it does everywhere in the state.

Inside the fence you will find a water bubbler with an attached bowl, bench seating and bag dispensers with bins. Bring spare bags anyway and note there are no public toilets on site.

The vibe

This is a local commuter park rather than a destination, and it moves to the neighbourhood's rhythm. Weekday mornings between about 7 and 8:30 bring the regulars, then it empties through the middle of the day and fills again from late afternoon into the early evening. Weekend mornings are consistently busy. If your dog needs a calm session, mid morning on a weekday is the reliable window.

Max: the airlock only works if everyone plays along. Clip the lead on before you open the outer gate, not after, so nothing bolts past you towards King Street.

Getting there and parking

The entrance is at 316 King Street, a short walk from Mascot station on the T8 Airport and South Line, with buses running along Botany Road. Parking is street only along King Street and the surrounding blocks, and the commercial traffic around the airport end of the suburb keeps it busy through working hours, so leave extra time on weekday mornings.

Worth knowing

Shade inside the fence is limited and the seating is unshaded, so skip the long midday sessions in summer and bring water for yourself. The reserve is compact, which is part of its appeal for a quick exercise stop, but it is not the place for a dog that needs long sightlines and a full gallop.

Close by with the dogs

The PAWFECT Cafe on Galloway Street keeps outdoor seating, water bowls and a dog menu, an easy post-park coffee stop. Seora Cafe and Black Gold Cafe are both in walking distance too, and if you are flying through town the dog friendly Citadines Connect Sydney Airport sits a few minutes away.
