What visitors mention
Rambo Dog Park on Neptune Street is Maryborough's main fenced off-leash area: a large, fully enclosed grassland with separate runs for big and small dogs, open 24/7.
The rules. Dogs run off-leash only inside the fenced area, and must be leashed when entering and leaving through the double gates. Keep your dog under effective voice control at all times. Use the correct large-dog or small-dog section. Any dog showing aggression must be leashed and removed straight away, and owners pick up after their dogs - waste-bag dispensers are usually on site.
What is there. The double-gated entry is the key safety feature, opening into roughly two hectares of open grass. There is agility and obstacle equipment, a water tap and bowls for dogs, bench seating for owners, and mature trees giving natural shade, though much of the ground is open and sunny. It sits beside the athletics track and netball complex.
Getting there. The park is at 207 Neptune Street, near the Boys Avenue intersection and about 500 metres from Maryborough Hospital. Free on-site and street parking is generally available, though spots on Neptune Street can fill on weekend mornings.
Nearby with the dogs. The Portside Cafe on Wharf Street is a well-regarded dog-friendly stop, and Maryborough has several pet-friendly motels and caravan parks - always ring ahead to confirm current pet policies, since they change.
When to go. It is busiest early morning, around 6am to 8am, and again late afternoon from about 4pm to 6pm, plus weekend mornings. The middle of the day is usually quietest. If your dog is anxious in crowds, aim for a weekday mid-morning and you will often have the run of it.
