Fay Smith Wetlands

Fay Smith Wetlands, on the corner of Neptune and Victory Streets in Maryborough, wraps boardwalks and tracks around a paperbark swamp and a reed-filled creek. It is a quiet on-lead walk a short drive from Tinana.

Lead rules

Fraser Coast Regional Council requires dogs to be on a lead at all times in the wetlands.

The walk

Formed tracks and boardwalks lead through the swamp, with birdlife, frogs and native plants all around. Established trees give plenty of shade along the paths.

Bins are near the entrance and there is street parking on Neptune Street. Water taps are limited, so bring a bottle and bowl.

Pepsi: All those frogs and birds make this a sniffing walk more than a running one. Let your dog take it slowly.

When to go

Good shade makes it a fair choice in warmer months. It suits calm dogs and owners after a quiet nature walk rather than an open social field.
