Maryborough Off Leash Dog park

The Neptune Street off leash area is Maryborough's main fenced dog park, sometimes listed as Rambo Dog Park, and it is a serious piece of infrastructure by regional Queensland standards: roughly two hectares of fully enclosed grass with separate runs for big and small dogs, open around the clock.

The dog setup

A double gated entry opens into open grass with agility and obstacle equipment, a water tap with bowls, bench seating and shade from mature trees over an otherwise sunny field. Off leash applies only inside the fence: keep the leash on while entering and leaving through the double gates, use the correct large dog or small dog section, and keep your dog under effective voice control throughout. Bag dispensers are usually stocked on site, but carry spares. Any dog showing aggression needs to be leashed and removed straight away.

Pepsi: pick your run honestly. The small dog side is what makes this park work for quieter dogs, so don't let a big dog talk its way in there.

Worth knowing

The park sits beside the athletics track and netball complex, so expect occasional noise and foot traffic from sport on the other side of the fence. The open layout means limited cover through the middle of the day: the tree shade is real but patchy, and summer afternoons bake the open sections.

Getting there

Find it on Neptune Street near the Boys Avenue intersection, about 500 metres from Maryborough Hospital. Free on-site and street parking is generally easy, though Neptune Street spots can fill on weekend mornings when the regulars roll through.

When to go

Busiest windows are early morning and late afternoon, plus weekend mornings. The middle of the day is the calm stretch, which is the window for an anxious or newly adopted dog that needs space to decompress before joining the crowd.

While you're out there

Tinana Fenced Dog Park is the nearest alternative yard across the river, and Scout Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park at Granville adds a third option. For a coffee with the dog after, Street Feast Cafe is a local favourite.
