Brookfield Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash dog exercise area within Brookfield Reserve on Brookfield Avenue, a few minutes from the centre of Margaret River. It is a Shire-run enclosed park, which makes it the safe spot in town to let a dog off the lead.

The rules. The fenced area is officially designated off-leash, but dogs must be leashed in the rest of the reserve and on entering and exiting the enclosure. Owners must keep their dogs under control at all times and pick up after them.

What's there. The key feature is the secure boundary fence. Dog-waste bag dispensers are provided on-site. There is no water tap, so bring your own water and bowl, especially on warm days. The reserve has some natural tree cover, but the enclosure itself is largely open space with limited shade.

Getting there. It is on Brookfield Avenue, near Leschenaultia Street, roughly a 3 to 5 minute drive from the town centre. Street parking is generally available along Brookfield Avenue near the entrance.

Nearby with the dogs. Blue Ginger Fine Foods and other town cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating are a short drive away, and there is a good spread of pet-friendly accommodation across the Margaret River area.

No water tap on-site and not much shade, so bring a full water bottle and bowl. Clip the lead on before you open the gate, since dogs must be leashed outside the fence.

Weekday mornings and weekends tend to be quieter, while weekday afternoons and evenings are the busiest. Bring water and aim for a cooler part of the day in summer.
