Riverview Tourist Park

Riverview Tourist Park is a Summerstar caravan park on the banks of the Margaret River, close enough to walk into the town centre along the river trails. The deal for dog owners is clear-cut: dogs are welcome on the powered camping and caravan sites, but not inside any of the cabins or other roofed accommodation. If you travel with a van or camper and want a riverbank site near town, it works; if you need a cabin, it does not.

Dogs at the park

You must tell the park you are bringing a dog before you book, so reception can allocate one of the designated pet sites. The rules are enforced: a maximum of two dogs per site, a short lead of no more than two metres at all times around the park, and immediate clean-up. Dogs are not allowed inside the amenity blocks, communal facilities or play areas, and a dog found in non-pet accommodation triggers a heavy cleaning fee. Staff can ask a nuisance or aggressive dog to leave. Accredited assistance dogs are exempt from these restrictions. Declare your dog when booking rather than arriving with one unannounced.

Max: measure your lead before you leave home. The two metre rule is the first thing enforced at check-in.

The setting

The park sits in a green riverbank pocket with a secluded feel despite being near the town, and the sites look out over water and trees where the parrots are constant company. Canoe hire puts you on the river itself, and walking trails start near the park, running through adjoining state forest and connecting toward the townsite. Bring your own dog bedding and bowls since there is no cabin backup, and book pet sites early for summer and school holidays.

Close by with the dogs

The river trail makes an easy on-lead morning walk straight from your site. For a proper run, Brookfield Dog Park is the town's fenced option, and the Wadandi Track at Cowaramup gives a long flat rail-trail walk a short drive north. In town, Settlers Tavern is the established pub stop. Dog-friendly beaches along the coast are a 10 to 15 minute drive.
