Card Avenue Park Fenced Dog Park

Card Avenue Park is a fully fenced off-leash dog park in Manunda, a few minutes south of the Cairns CBD. It is a quiet, local pocket park rather than a destination ground, which is exactly what makes it work: your dog gets a secure run without traffic worries or a chaotic social scene.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fully fenced, with latching gates that need to be closed properly behind you. Inside, council rules apply: keep your dog under effective control and within sight at all times, confident that it will respond to your voice or hand signals. Clean up using the bags and bins provided on site, and leash and remove any dog showing aggressive behaviour immediately. The park has mature trees for shade, benches for owners, and a water station for dogs.

Worth knowing

The park is rarely crowded; early evenings midweek are the busiest window, while mid-morning and early afternoon are usually the quietest stretches. That makes it a solid pick for low-key socialising or a dog that gets overwhelmed at bigger parks. In the tropics the midday heat is the real constraint, so aim for early morning or the cooler evening hours and carry water in the wet season humidity. The park sits in parkland off Card Avenue, Manunda 4870, between residential frontages on Card Avenue and Barlow Street. Street parking is generally available along Card Avenue, and Sunbus stops on the surrounding streets connect through to Cairns city with a short walk from the nearest stop.
