Koffeez

Koffeez runs out of Shop 3, 304-308 Mulgrave Road in Westcourt, a few minutes south of the Cairns CBD and just before the DFO if you are heading inbound. It is a drive-thru and dine-in cafe that opens at 5:30am every day, and the outdoor tables out front welcome leashed dogs alongside your coffee.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor tables, which face Mulgrave Road and have umbrellas for shade. Keep your dog leashed and settled away from the foot traffic. Water is not guaranteed, so ask the staff for a bowl when you order. If you are rolling through, the drive-thru works with the dog in the car, and walk-ups with a dog on lead are just as welcome.

Worth knowing

Koffeez is known for generous serves: the four-shot Jumbo coffees are the signature, and the menu covers hot breakfasts such as bacon and egg rolls, eggs bene croissants, paninis and burgers at cafe-quick prices. Service is fast, which is exactly what you want on a school-day morning. It closes mid-afternoon, around 3pm on weekdays and earlier on weekends, so it is a breakfast-and-lunch operation rather than an arvo one.

Getting there and parking

There is a free onsite carpark, and access is easy off Mulgrave Road from both the city and the southern suburbs. The outdoor tables sit close to the road and the carpark, so this suits a dog that stays calm around passing traffic and foot traffic.

Close by with the dogs
