Lilydale Lake East Dog Off Leash Area

The east off-leash area at Lillydale Lake is the quieter alternative to the busy north-west corner: a large, open grass space on the eastern side of the parklands, off Swansea Road. It suits dogs with strong recall who like an open field to run in.

The rules. Off-leash is limited to this designated east zone; dogs must be on-lead everywhere else around the lake. Keep your dog in sight and instantly recallable. Stay 20 metres clear of playgrounds, ovals and fixed barbecue or picnic areas. Carry a lead, supervise (one adult to no more than two dogs), and pick up after your dog.

What's there. A dedicated car park at the reserve, picnic tables, and access to the gravel trail that circles the lake. There are no water taps in the east zone, so bring your own dog water. The nearest public toilets are at the main playground and picnic area a short walk away.

Getting there. Access is via Swansea Road, just south of the main lake entrance, and the zone is also reachable on the gravel lake circuit. Lilydale Station is roughly a 15 to 20 minute walk.

Weekday mornings and early evenings are calmest. Weekends from late morning to mid-afternoon are the busiest. Good for confident, well-recalled dogs after a quieter run.
