The rules. Merri-bek City Council has previously run this as a part-time off-leash area, open before 9am and after 5pm, with the park on-lead outside those hours. Dogs must stay on-lead near the playground on the park's south side, and under effective control at all times even when off-leash. What's there. The reserve has some seating, bins and a handful of mature trees for shade. Water is not reliably on site, so bring a bowl. There is a basic, older playground at the south end, so keep dogs clear of it and leashed nearby.

Getting there. Free street parking is available on North Street and the surrounding residential streets. Local bus routes run along nearby West Street, and it is an easy walk from surrounding Hadfield streets.

Nearby with the dogs. Sydney Road cafes in neighbouring Fawkner and Coburg North are a short drive away and worth checking for outdoor seating.

Go early morning or early evening on a weekday if the off-leash window is still in force, when the park is quiet and there is space for a proper run before the sun gets high.
