Garfield Park Fenced Dog Park is a smaller, quieter off-leash spot in West Goulburn, on the corner of Garfield Avenue and Francis Street. It is fully fenced with double-gated entry, which makes it a useful, low-key alternative to the busier Victoria Park, and a tidy place for recall work.

The rules. The enclosure is off-leash, but keep your dog under effective control and pick up after it straight away. Close the double gates properly each time. Keep dogs out of any adjacent playground areas. One thing worth checking: the council has at times scheduled off-leash area closures for maintenance, so confirm the park is open on the Goulburn Mulwaree Council site before a special trip.

What's there. A fully fenced perimeter, a water station, benches for owners, and double-gated entry. Open green space with some trees for shade. Facilities are modest, so bring bags and your own water just in case.

Getting there. Corner of Garfield Avenue and Francis Street, West Goulburn. It is a residential pocket, best reached by car, with parking on the surrounding streets.

When to go. Quieter on weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons, busier early morning, late afternoon and weekend mornings. The calmer feel here suits a timid or in-training dog, especially if you visit off-peak.
