Thomsett Park Fenced Dog Park

Thomsett Park Fenced Dog Park is a small, off-leash yard on Olakuna Crescent in Ferny Hills, managed by the City of Moreton Bay and surrounded by natural bushland and tall native shade trees. It gives local dogs a secure, single-yard enclosure to run in without the distractions of open parkland, next to Kedron Brook.

The dog setup

Off-leash applies strictly inside the fenced area: keep the lead on elsewhere in the park and while entering and exiting the gates. Owners stay inside the enclosure with their dog, maintain effective voice control and pick up waste immediately, with a doggy bag dispenser and bin on site. A water tap and benches cover the basics, and the tree cover keeps the yard usable through most of the day.

The nearby children's playground, with swings, a fort and activity panels, makes this a practical family stop, and on-street access on Olakuna Crescent is roughly a three-minute drive or 15-minute walk from Ferny Grove station. Being small, the yard works best for one or two dogs at a time; if it is occupied, a short wait or a lap of the brook path on lead is the pattern.

Max: small single yards reward good gate manners. Leash up before you open anything and check who is already inside before your dog gets a head start.

Worth knowing

Sunday afternoons and Thursday evenings are the quietest slots; Monday mornings, Friday daytime and Saturday mornings are the times to avoid if your dog prefers calm company. The park stays fairly quiet overall despite being a popular local spot.

Close by with the dogs

For bigger fenced runs, Ferny Grove Dog Park and Keperra Dog Park are both within easy reach, and the Samford Conservation Park trail adds a proper bushwalk on lead.
