Henley Park Off Leash Dog Area sits at the eastern end of Henley Park in Enfield, between Short and Mitchell Streets, a fully fenced and floodlit space that is one of the inner west's more popular off-leash spots.

The rules. Off-leash only within the fenced boundary between Short and Mitchell Streets. Dogs must stay under the effective control of a person over 16, per Burwood Council. Use the double-gate entry system rather than propping a single gate open, and clean up after your dog using the on-site bag dispensers.

What's there. Full perimeter fencing, floodlighting until 9pm for evening visits, water stations and poo bag dispensers. There are no human toilets inside the fenced area itself, so plan ahead if you need one.

Getting there. The park runs along Mitchell Street, Enfield, with street parking available on Mitchell and Short Streets. Buses on Liverpool Road (the Hume Highway) stop a short walk away.

Nearby with the dogs. The Gentle Bean on Liverpool Road has a full doggy menu and welcomes dogs indoors, and Garden House Cafe on Mitchell Street is right around the corner for an easier stop.

Evenings and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds. If your dog prefers space to socialising, midday on a weekday is the better window.
