M.O. Moran Reserve Fenced Dog Park sits at the northern end of the reserve on Marine Parade, right by the Elwood foreshore. The point is the fence: a fully enclosed, double-gated off-leash area where a dog that bolts or ignores recall can still run safely, with the bay just over the path.

The rules. Inside the fenced area dogs can be off-leash. Use the double gates one at a time so nothing slips out, keep your dog in view and under control, and clean up after it.

What's there. A drinking fountain with a dog bowl, bench seating and a shelter, and some planting for limited shade. The surface is grass, which can wear thin or get muddy after rain, so expect mucky paws in winter.

Getting there. There is a car park right next to the reserve on Marine Parade, and buses run along the Elwood foreshore. It connects to the Elwood Canal and foreshore walking paths, so it is easy to fold into a longer loop.

The fence makes this a sensible choice for a new rescue or a dog still working on recall. Watch the gate when other people are coming and going.

Nearby with the dogs. The Ormond Road strip and the foreshore are a short walk away, with dog-friendly cafes and the beach itself for a post-run cool down.

When to go. Weekday mornings are quietest. It gets busy Friday afternoon through Sunday, so an anxious dog is better off mid-week. Good for dogs who need a secure space to let loose.
