Drysdale Sports Precinct

The Drysdale Sports Precinct off Belchers Road, home to the Drysdale Sports Oval, is where many local owners bring their dogs for a run on open turf. The ovals can be used off lead, but only when no sport is on.

Leads and the ovals

The City of Greater Geelong allows dogs off lead under effective control on the grassed ovals when no organised sport or training is taking place.

On the surrounding paths, shared paths and near playgrounds, dogs must be on a lead. Follow the signs around active play spaces.

The ground

Wide ovals are framed by native trees and practice nets, linked by concrete and gravel paths. Shade is mostly around the perimeter trees and pavilions, not on the oval itself.

Bins sit near the clubrooms and parking is on site. There is little dog water on the grounds, so carry a bottle.

Make a day of it

Cafe Zoo and The Bungalow are both in Drysdale for a coffee after the run.

When to go

Local owners often gather mid-morning, around 10 to 11am, which suits a social dog. Always check the ovals are clear of sport before you unclip.
