Paws by the Sea

Paws by the Sea is a fully fenced, self-contained dog-friendly holiday house in Ocean Grove, roughly 200 metres from a dog-friendly beach. Large dogs are welcome inside the house, not shut outside, which makes it a straightforward base for a Bellarine coastal trip with the dog.

Dogs at the house

Up to two dogs are permitted, large dogs included, and they are allowed indoors with you. A flat $50 dog fee covers the whole stay rather than a nightly charge. The fully fenced yard is the standout for owners of dogs that need a secure yard, since the whole property is enclosed. You have the entire house rather than shared common areas. Confirm the current terms, the two-dog limit and the fencing directly with the host at booking, and ask which beach access is closest to the door.

Max: the $50 fee is per stay, so a longer booking makes the maths much friendlier than a per-night pet charge.

Getting there

Ocean Grove sits on the Bellarine Peninsula at the mouth of the Barwon River, about 1 hour 45 minutes from Melbourne via Geelong. The town centre, shops and cafes are a short drive or walk from the house.

While you're out there

The beach 200 metres away allows dogs, but check the posted signs for seasonal off-leash times before unsnipping the lead. The Ocean Grove to Barwon Heads walk is the classic on-lead stretch along the river and coast. If a house is more room than the trip needs, Ocean Grove Holiday Park is the cabin and site alternative in the same town.
