St Clems Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

St Clems Reserve on St Clems Road is an open, grassy off-leash corridor in Doncaster East that reads more like a linear path with wide green sections than a single paddock. It is a popular local for a stretch-out run, with Ruffey Lake Park close by for a longer walk on the lead.

The dog setup

Most of the reserve is off-lead under effective voice control. It is unfenced and open to the surrounding streets, so reliable recall is non-negotiable before you unclip. Dogs go back on lead within 15 metres of play equipment, permanent barbecue facilities and any organised sporting event. Dog waste bins sit on site and pickup is expected. There is a tap near the playground, but bring your own bowl to be safe.

The vibe

The reserve carries a playground, pavilion, toilets and a covered BBQ and picnic area, so it does double duty as a family space. Weekend mornings and weekday late afternoons draw the biggest dog crowds. Because the reserve is linear, if the section near the playground is busy you can simply walk further along to the more open grass, which suits dogs that like to cover ground.

Getting there and parking

The reserve is reached via Blackburn Road or Doncaster Road, turning into St Clems Road, with on-street parking along St Clems Road itself. Buses along Blackburn Road, including routes 271 and 295, stop within a short walk.

Ruffey Lake Park is the big green neighbour with circuits around the water, and the Zerbes Reserve off-leash area on Blackburn Road offers an open hillside away from the sports ovals.
